It appears there is now incontrivertable proof of what we Gen X superbrains have suspected all along ... that our kids are in fact dumber than us.

It looks like human evolution peaked with the previous generation, and in fact it is all down hill from here.

We were a bit worried when they were still living with us in their 20's ... but it looks like we may have to assist them raising their even dumber kids.

Could it be due to the poisons in the food chain ... radiation ... did we mollycoddle them too much??

Anyway ... it doesn't look good for the future of mankind.

I think that these things come in waves. First there must be pressure to adapt. That is created by conflict and strife. Remember those 2 world wars at the beginning of last century. People had to be smart or they and their families died and suffered.

Now we have been coasting along nicely for a while, close calls when Bush came to power but so far not a big threat (think cold war) is there to motivate people to become smarter.

Don't you worry though, I am sure that the next couple of generations will f*ck lots of stuff up and create conflict and strife, then we will have the great thinkers return and another length of relative peace.

I am hoping that it lasts a good while because despite the cynicism in my argument I don't like war or strife.

Well we peaked like 80,000 years ago ... its been a long and slow decline.

Imagine how many times they solved the riddle of eternal life and faster than light travel ... only to be clubbed to death by a neighbour or eaten by some animal ... no record of the work done.

Frustrating ...
