Hello,

I have recently purchased a GEN4 SSD (SN770) but it is not running at the advertised seq. max.speeds i.e. only 3700MB/s according to crystaldiskmark but it's supposed to reach close to 5000MB/s. I have inserted it into my M2_1 slot just under the GPU. (I previously had a sata M2 driver there) I also have another GEN3 SSD in M2_2 slot. (SN750 not the SE variant the old one)

CPU: Ryzen 5 3600
MB: MSI B550 A-PRO
GPU: MSI RTX 3070

I have nothing plugged in the other lanes (no wifi cards, no sound cards e.t.c)

I am having a real headache troubleshooting this.

  • M2_1 slot (from AMD Processor)
    • Supports PCIe 4.0/ 3.0 x4 1
    • Supports SATA 6Gb/s
    • Supports 2242/ 2260/ 2280/ 22110 storage devices
Above is from motherboard spec sheet.

That red footnote says:

"The supported specification depends on installed processor."

Are you positive that the Ryzen 5 3600 supports gen 4? I have no idea.

check bios settings.
Changed PCI Subsystem Settings as follows:
Re-Size BAR Support: Enabled
Above 4G memory/Crypto Currency mining: Disabled
PCI_E1 Gen Switch : Gen 4
Chipset Gen Switch: Gen 3
PCI_E1 Lanes Configurations: Auto

Changing PCI_E1 Lanes Configurations to x8+x4+x4 did not change the speed either.

What am I doing wrong here?
