Generals runs choppy as hell

Why is it that C & C generals Zero hour runs very, very choppy on my system ? I have a 2700 XP chip, a 9800 pro and a full gig of DDR 3200 dual channel ram on an asus A7N8x deluxe MoBo... I can't figure it..it's almost as though my system is clean out of resources and when I check what it's using it's chewing over 300 meg of virtual memory...somethings not right somewhere.

I am running the exact same setup as you, and I found Generals to not run as smoothly as I would have liked. Granted, I have all the eyecandy turned on, but I expected smoohter gameplay. It isn't distracting to me though, just not smooth enough.

If an argument can't be settled in one or two paragraphs, perhaps you're anal and should just let it go...
