Hey guys.
I have the HD 7970 vortex 2 graphics card. When I first installed it in the screen resolution panel it wouldnt recognize the monitor and it said generic non pnp monitor and the resolution couldn't go beyond 1680x1200. Anyway with some catalyst settings I was able to put it customly at 1920x1080. But it still said non pnp monitor. After that I installed my old gt 220 gpu and its drivers and it recognized my monitor. Then I reinstalled my 7970 and it still didn't recognize it.I read somewhere that if you unplug the power cord for a few minutes it's supposed to fix it. I will try that some time later but do you guys have any ideas why this is happening? And I am using a dvi to vga adapter to connect the gpu to the monitor.

The monitor has only vga input. Will i need to upgrade to a new monitor(current one is 5+years old) or is it that particular adapter?
