Generic Pnp Monitor comes up when trying to update drivers?

Hi there im having some trouble with my new lg 18.5" LED monitor. I had to replace my broken Advent 17" monitor and since using my new one i noticed it was very slow and immediately knew it was due to outdated driver so i downloaded the windows 8 drivers from lg's website but when i try to manually install the drivers it comes up with 'Generic Pnp Monitor' and i try to manually install the drivers onto this monitor it says the drivers are up to date and im now very confused as to what i should?

PLEASE HELP!

I don't think you quite understand i have the correct drivers its just im having trouble installing them as my monitor model doesn't come up in the device manager only the 'generic pnp monitor' does
