Generic PnP Monitor driver

I have a Dell E2014H monitor, which has only VGA and DIV port. I use this monitor as a second display for my laptop connected by a VGA cable. The monitor started displaying a blue tinge which is likely due to pins not making the connection properly. SO when I replaced the VGA cable, my computer does not recognize the monitor and picks up Generic PnP Monitor driver in the Device Manager. Though the display does not exhibit blue tinge any more, the quality is poor (blurry).

Here are the things i have tried so far,

1. Tried a few new VGA cables.
2. Tried updating Generic PnP Monitor driver in the device manager, but it says "The best driver software for our device is already installed".

Any ideas what can fix this issue?

Thanks,

List your laptop's make and model and if you can, an SKU of the laptop. See if uninstalling and reinstalling your GPU drivers changes the issue for you. On another note, make sure you're on the latest BIOS update for your laptop. Are you working with Windows 10, by any chance?

Revert to your previous cable and see if that resolves the issue, if it is resolved(albeit with the blue tinge) then the cable you purchased was faulty.

Thank you very much for your response.

I am using Dell Latitude 7480 with Windows 8. This is my work computer so I doubt I can make changes to GPU drivers or BIOS update. By the way, I did try connecting the monitor to another laptop (Dell Inspiron), I was able to replicate all the aforementioned issues.

I tried the old cable and it worked for couple days without the blue tinge before conking out completely. There is no signal input when I use the old cable now.

Are there any differences within the VGA cables? Should I try to find the same VGA cable that comes with the monitor?

Thanks again.
