get 1080 on release or wait for 1080ti in a year

Like the title says. I'm using a 2gb 770 right and recently upgraded to a 1440p screen. Based on the 980ti's release date compared to 980 it seems to take about a year for ti chips to release. I'm wondering if I should just get the 1080 on release or wait till ti release?

The 1080 appears to be plenty powerful on it's own. It's allegedly faster than the Titan X, and faster than twin 980's in SLI. I don't you'll have too much of an issue with needing anything faster for a while.

Also: a year after 1080ti there'll be a "1180" on the market. A new, better, faster card will always be a year away so waiting a full year is not worth it unless your rig can handle another year of new games at acceptable fps.
