Should i get 3080ti or wait and get like 4070 for my current build with no new parts? From one side i don't really wanna pay over 1k for old GPU and rather get new one for same amount, but on the other hand i seen there a lot of issues with new series regarding PSU possible PCIe. Anyone could give TL;DR? And any suggestions what would be best for me?

Go for the 3090/3090ti, the power draw of the 4090 isnt known as well.

its safer now and youll have a better time trying to get one.

wait for the 4090 to go out and for 3090 prices to drop.

Nah not really going for top of the line GPU, something in between top and budget, like xx70,70ti,80,80ti would do nicely. Also MSRP means nothing tbh, there is place holders in my country's web shop for 2 MSi 4090 cards both at 2.6k Almost 100% such price gonna stay.
Question will PSU can handle 4k series, heard there is like 2 connectors or something. And won't PCIe 5.0 mobo bottleneck 4k series anyhow?

Only the 4090 cards have been announced.
You may wait a long time for such as a 4070.

If you have a need now, and the funds, you may as well buy what you need now.

Your PSU is fine for whatever you buy.
If adapters are needed, they will come with the new card.

I have been watching ebay since the Etherium merge and I have seen some great sales. Last night I saw 3080 for $499, buy it now. It may be worth it to buy a 3080 on the cheap used and replace it when the 4000s become established and avaiable. Maybe even wait for the ti versions. If you can get it cheap enough now, you can re-sell it in a year for probably around what you paid. This point in time is unique with GPU pricing. The perfect storm of etherium and new graphics cards.

Nvidia has announced the 4090, 4080 16GB, and 4080 12GB. The 4080 12GB should actually be called the 4070 since it has less ram and cores then the 4080 16GB.

Ether way the new 4000 series, at least for the 3 that have been paper launched, will need ATX 3.0 power supplies as they require 12 pin + 4 data pins With 4 data lines it allows the PSU and GPU to communicate and know how much power needs to be delivered. Without those lines, it can only provide 450W. Also note that the plug from the PSU has a life cycle of around 30 plug and unplugs before it should be replaced.

So even with a 1000 watt PSU that you have a 4000 series card would only be able to pull 450w because you dont have the 4 data pins. While data sheets are saying the 4080 12GB is only a 285w card, as long as it stays cool and there is power available the card will boost well past that number.

Its like intel saying that your cpu 12700kf is 190w but during boost hits around 280w. Only time will tell what these cards will actually pull in wattage numbers

In regards to mining cards, I’d just say be careful. You may wish to avoid older ones like the 2080 cards, 3000 series are newer and may not have been run as hard as long. If you go for a used card, I definitely suggest using eBay since they have their eBay money back guarantee and seem sympathetic towards buyers. Then when you get the card run it hard the first week or so to be sure it’s healthy so you can file a claim if you have issues.

Time to necro this post, now that AMD gpus out and Nvidias 4080. Any suggestions what to get, that will last long and will be better 4080 or RX 7900 XTX since both in my country at around 1.5k price point.

If they 7900 XTX and 4080 are the same price in your country and you want spend that much it is an easy choice. The 4080 is the better overall product (at same price at least). Both cards are about the same in normal rasterization (the 7900 is about 3% faster, which makes no difference). But you have at up to 33% (Cyberpunk 2077) more raytracing power with the 4080 and it comes with all the DLSS 2.0, 3.0 (Frame generation) stuff. And the 4080 is much more efficient than the 7900XTX. So, for same price definetly 4080. If you can get the 7900 XTX for about $200 cheaper a case could be made for that one if you don't care too much about raytracing. Also, the drivers are good with 4080 now. The AMD 7900xtx drivers are still a mixed bag, but that will probably get better the next couple of months or so....

Not really into raytracing, not now least, still eats to much fps in modern games.

The 4080 is very capable with raytracing.....you can max out raytracing in 1440p and get over 60 fps. or over 100fps with raytracing on max with DLSS (both look visually the same). Those are Cyberpunk 2077 numbers.

Even if you don't care for raytracing, the 4080 is still the better card at the same pricing level. Yes, the 7900xtx gives you 3% more frames in non-RTX titles.....but seriously, what is the difference between 180 fps and 190 fps??? But with the 4080 you can actually fluently play over 60fps with Raytracing. And it uses less power. When they the are same price....go for the better card.

Like I said, if the RX 7900 XTX would be 200 bugs cheaper in you country....yeah, go for it. But for the same price the 4080 is the better card.

Unless you are rich enough to afford the 80 or 90 class cards the specs for the rest look pretty ropey, memory bandwidth being slashed, no increase on VRAM. The Core clocks may give them a slight performance advantage over 30 series but the value will be shocking.

Cant call myself rich, just gotta change gpu as i want change screen to. Trusty 1070 starting to struggle to run games maxed on 1080p.

I would think about an AMD 6750XT as they are the best value at the moment, but if you determined to stay green if you can get a 3060Ti for less than $/£450 than that will work too.
