Question Get an i5-12400 or wait until 2023 ?

Hello guys!

I currently have an i5-8400 and want to up it as with recent multi titles it seems to struggle.

I was looking at the 12400, but 13400 is supposed to come out early next year

Is it safe to buy Mobo and a good cooler(air) now or should wait a bit?

Later I plan to pair it with a 3080 as prices are plummeting

Yea, you can, anything on socket 1700 is compatible with the new 13400 but be careful, if you go for the motherboard from previous gen you must do a bios update to be able to boot with the 13400, on some motherboards this can be done only witha suported cpu (bios suported cpu).

Unless if he has B660 motherboard with external clock generator, so the 12400 could run 5-5.2GHz. Than the 13400 will not be faster at all.

This sounds pretty interesting and will consider it in case 13400 price is a lot more
What 660 can run the 12400 on 5.2?
Do I need some special RAM also?

Thank you for the warning, I will look into it if I decide to wait for the 13
