Get second 980 ti or sell and get 1080?

Personally I'd get the 1080. but that's just me...
In some games you may see better performance with the SLI configuration.
In some games you'll see better performance with just one 1080.

Yes, he's right that it depends on the scenario whether SLI would perform better or worse than a single 1080. However, you need to consider that not all games support SLI. Many games will only use one GPU even if you have two. I would recommend the 1080, especially for VR.

2x 980ti's is MUCH faster then a single 1080, even if the game didn't scale well..

Please don't go for SLI, i did it with my 970's and could not be more disappointed, Stutter in meny games like Watch dogs, Tom clansy, ETC. alot of game don't have SLI support, and if they do it's rare they scale with more then 30 % (personal observation) and then come the heat in the pc, if you OC it aswell, even more heat will build up, and Power consumption is a bitc* using way to meany money running this beast. so please don't make the same mistake as i did, go for the fastest single card you can get ! you will thanks me later.

1080s are going to go for about the same or cheaper than another 980ti. Combine that with the fact that not all games will support SLI, that is a lot of money for a questionable return. But comparing the two single cards, the 1080 will outperform in everyway, and is more power efficient. Every game will be better with a 1080 vs single 980ti,but not all games will perform better with SLI. I would recommend selling and picking up an AIB/aftermarket 1080 when they come out. I hear the founder's edition has power throttling issues, and ASUS, Gigabyte and the others have already teased their STRIX/WINDFORCE versions - shouldn't be too long. Hope it helps!

The aftermarket cards for the 980 and 980ti came out within a few weeks of the reference card. Worth waiting
