Get the 5870 1 gig, or wait for 2 gig or x2?

Hi. My last and current video hard is an 8800gtx which as worked well through the years. Paid $600 originally for it I believe.

Would it make sense to get an 5870 x2 and have that last me for a few years?

Or get a 5870 and upgrade sooner when a newer generation of cards hit?

Or should I simply wait for the 5870 2 gig version?

I just want the most value for my dollar.

i think 1GB should be alright for most games today. even one of this card might last you for few years 😀
if you think the performance will not satisfy you then wait for 2GB ver or X2 😀

Does that mean it's best to get the value cards every other year or so? Has someone done research that shows what type of card to buy to get the most value?

Is your 8800gtx not playing the games you want? Have you tried to overclock it?

5870 would be a great upgrade if you can afford it.

It's about trying to find the sweet spot. I would really love to be able to go out and spend $1000's on this tech but I cant and nobody really can so...

I think my most likely purchase will be a single 5850. After that I will either buy another 5850 for my 2nd pc or buy multiples of juniper (4x5770 maybe?) instead.
