So basically they are the same thing? beside the different 1 fan and 2 fans? am I right?
Because both are available for me for $80. If i get the d15, I can just get the D15 and take away 1 fan right?

The difference between the two coolers is that the S has a more assymetrical design allowing for better memory and gpu clearance. The gpu clearance is a problem in a lot of X99 motherboards where the cpu socket can be so close to the first pci x16 that a big cooler could interfere with the gpu. That is why sometimes you see system with the gpu populating a lower pci e. On the 'standard' i5,i7 etc. boards the first pci slot is 1x or 4x allowing for what ever cooler you want to get.

Performance wise there is little to gain with dual fans but also the noise output doesn't increase all that much.

If your system is a z170 or something like that i suggest going with the d15. No need to remove the fan IMO.
