Getting 100Mbps on usb 3.0

I am getting 100 MBPS from usb 3.0 to external hard disk(wd elements 5400rpm). Is100mbps ok ,since my mother says usb 3.0 can transfer files @upto 5gbps.

yeah depends of what ur loading to it or format 100 still fine but sometime the 3.0 usb sticks arnt what they are sometimes stick with lexar & kingston as they are tru to their word on speed

Nope 100MBps is quite low, it should be around 150 mbps atleast. Can you tell exactly which Hard disk model you are using?

check the properties of ur usb as some companies lie about specs personaly find a decent stick check in ur bios settings that ur usb settings are right as well check u have the correct drivers might be a driver issue more

Hi there saadgamer_17,

One thing you can do is to go to your MOBO's website and update USB 3.0 drivers.
Have you tried to transfer just a single, big file?(instead of multiple small ones)

It may be a good idea to check the drive's health status out. You can either test it with a brand specific or a third party HDD testing tool, that will provide a SMART report.
