QuestionGetting 240HZ on External Monitor from Laptop?

Doy5

I recently purchased a gaming laptop and a 240HZ External Monitor. The problem is, the laptop doesnt have anywhere to plug in a DP cord, but the monitor does. I was wondering what cord/adapter I would need in order to be able to run my external monitor at 240HZ, because it doesnt look like HDMI 2.0 will get 240HZ to the monitor.

What I bought:

Splendid
cable says 8K at 60Hz
DisplayPort 1.4 is 1080p 240Hz compatible

u wont find it, as they always just say max supported resolution @ which Hz it can go
so u have to do some math there
bandwith calculator

1080p @ 240Hz 8bit:
bandwith per channel - 5.94Gbps
total signal bandwith - 17.82Gbps

1080p @ 240Hz 10bit:
bandwith per channel - 7.13Gbps
total signal bandwith - 21.38Gbps

1080p @ 240Hz 12bit:
bandwith per channel - 8.32Gbps
total signal bandwith - 24.95Gbps

displayport 1.4 :
max bandwith per channel - 8.1Gbps
max total signal bandwith - 32.4Gbps

as u can see, it fits without any need for DSC compression

if u choose another cable (usb c to displayport) then mentioned above, make sure it supports displayport 1.3 or 1.4
as dp 1.2 cable can handle just 8bit 1080p @ 240Hz (21.6Gbps max)

Thanks for the clarification. My laptop and cords will be in today, so hopefully it all syncs up. I ordered this one https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07R3ZQBS6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I'm probably getting ahead of myself, but someone mentioned my laptop didnt support Thunderbolt USB-C to DP in the Amazon review section...if this is true, is there a USB-C to DP cord thats not Thunderbolt? If that makes sense? Because if there is, I cant find it. Thanks again!

thunderbolt 3 is 40Gbps connection, u wont need it
what u linked support both usb c to dp or thunderbolt 3
