So here's what happened:

I was planning on installing my GPU today after installing all the other drivers to everything else. Everything was working fine yesterday. I got Windows running, downloaded drivers, etc, etc. Today however, I plugged in my GPU (GTX 970) and when I turned it on, it turned on for a second then shut off and now there's just a red light. I don't know what to do. I've done the paper clip thing to make sure my PCU is running, I went to buy a new CMOS Battery, still doing the same thing.

Any ideas on what's going on?

Motherboard: MSI Z170A M7
CPU: i7-6700
GPU: GTX-970
PSU: Thermaltake TR2 700W

I cleared the CMOS using a flat screwdriver since I couldn't find any jumper caps. Nothing has changed. I don't think that my motherboard would be faulty since It worked all yesterday and the day before

laptop shutdown automatically
When a laptop automatically shut down, it is commonly due to 3 reaons
1.Overheat of the CPU.
Use a software to defect the CPU temperature, if the temperature is high, You need to improve the head output of your laptop.
Specifically, you may need to do the following
1) clear the CPU fan
2) See if the heat output channel is blocked.
3) Check to see if there is a gap between CPU and fan, if yes , you need to apply CPU Thermal Grease ,which will be very helpful.
2. Motherboard problem.
If the temperature of your CPU is normal and it keep shutting down, it could be a motherboard problem
3. System problem
Sometimes virus of system error may cause laptop shutdown automatically.

This doesn't help my problem. I guess I just have to get a replacement?
