Since I didn't really get any help from my question: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/295252-32-high-disk-activity-caused-system-pid4

I am know looking a replacement hard drive for my laptop before my hard drive fails. I have a Toshiba laptop and should I purchase a Toshiba hard drive too or should can I use Seagate or Hitachis? Is there a single uniform size for laptops? Any recommendations for a good hard drives larger or equal to 320GBs? Can I use my OEM OS?

Most laptop hard drives are standardised at 2.5-inches, and you can install any brand.

Based on my terrible experiences with Seagate drives (four new ones all failed in less than a year) I cannot recommend them. WD drives have a better reliability record, as do Samsung & Hitachi drives.

Hey Phil thanks for the answer. About your Seagate drives, what was the reason of the failure and were you able to RMA them?
