Hello! I currently already have a hard drive, and I would like to purchase a secondary drive (preferably SSD) because of space issues, and also for its speed for specific processes.
I do not know what to buy in addition to the SSD itself, such as SATA cables/brackets etc.. Do I need two sata cables?
One for motherboard, one for power supply?
Do I need to buy a mount to hold it in place in my computer?
Is there harm in just letting it hang/lie there with no mount, just SATA cable?

This is my motherboard: Gigabyte z270p-d3 https://www.amazon.com/GIGABYTE-GA-Z270P-D3-LGA1151-Crossfire-Motherboard/dp/B01N2V0AHI
This is my power supply: EVGA NEX650G https://www.newegg.com/evga-supernova-nex650g-gold-120-pg-0650-gr-650w/p/N82E16817438005
This is the SSD I am buying: Crucial MX500 1tb 3D NAND Sata 2.5 Inch Internal SSD https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-MX50...ial+MX500+1TB&qid=1549722238&s=gateway&sr=8-3

Any responses will be appreciated, thank you!

That cable will work for the data connection to your motherboard. But you still need a SATA power connection to your power supply. The one going from your PSU to your HDD should have extra power connectors. If you put the SSD above or below or beside it, those power connectors should reach.

Your case almost certainly has a dedicated 2.5" mount space. Most reasonable quality cases in the last few years do.

All you need is a SATA data cable from the drive to the motherboard. SATA power comes off the PSU.
And that is a top quality drive. You wo't be disappointed.

Your power supply should have extra SATA power cables. You will need a SATA data cable though (one that supports SATA III). You will also need a 3.5" to 2.5" mounting bracket if your case does not have a 2.5" SSD mounting space.
So this sata III cable should do the trick? https://www.amazon.com/Monoprice-18-Inch-Cable-Locking-90-Degree/dp/B009GUXU52?ref_=fsclp_pl_dp_1
I also can't find my extra cables that came with my power supply, I bought it a couple years ago.. Would that same cable work as posted above? Or do I need a different type?
