Hi This is what I was trying to do: We took a bare bones Dell PowerEdge T20 with 4 SATA ports and added a 2 port SATA controller card (AS media ASM1061R SATA III host controller) so that we could:
1. Create a mirrored SSD drive attached to the card
2. Leave the DVD attached to one of the four motherboard SATA interfaces
3. Attach 3 2TB SATA HDs to the other three interfaces
We set up the mirrored drives through the card BIOS program and then installed Windows Server 2012r2 successfully on the mirrored drives
We then set up RAID5 on the motherboard RAID configuration BIOS program seemingly successfully
Now the Dell motherboard can't see the other drives. We can't put them in the boot order and of course we're getting Non-system disk error.
Are we trying to do the impossible (with this motherboard?) Or do we need to get a different (and probably more expensive) controller card?
Any insights will be humbly appreciated.
