I'm asking this in mobo section because I'm assuming its something wrong in Bios setting.. but you never know.. I've searched for this error but no one has the problem I have... where my cpu actually isn't running hot..This is a brand new build with a M5A88-V EVO mobo with Athlon II x3 455 with a hyper 212+ on it. I started it up with it hooked up to my flat screen for now to test booting ( because i open bench tested it earlier and i got weird Beep codes Ive never heard of and apparently asus never heard of either LOL ) so it turned out the error was the cpu over temp.. but I can just F1 and go straight into a windows load up which it loads up insanely fast everything is working... I opened CPU-Z and Core temp programs because this HDD i put in is from another computer..and has them on it. I looked.. Core temp showing all 3 cores at 16-18C right now.. cpu-z confirms all 3 cores working there... I load up prime95.. it hits like 35-40 tops after awhile never goes higher... I installed windows updates loaded back up still get the cpu over temp error on bios load up anyway open core temp program.. I'm still at 16C right now with a slight load because its installing updates atm... soo... Anyone know why I'm getting this error from the Bios? is it some setting I can turn off? I never changed anything its a fresh boot.. I'm going to uninstall old drivers off the HDD and install new ones with updated BIOS hopefully it solves the problem...

I'm almost 100% certain the hyper 212 is working.. I mean its at 14-16C for christ sakes..... thats way below what it should be...

anyone have problems like this? its really annoying because it pops up everytime when I first boot but the cpu is working perfectly... Thanks guys.

14-16c is impossible unless your computer is outisde in winter or that the room temp is actually below 14c.

So something is definatly wrong... what does the BIOS report as temperatures?

that idle dude... I have a athlon 2 triple core with a hyper212+ and expensive ass thermal paste on it... the case has 5 fans all 120MM or bigger... I have both side panels off.. I live in new england its about 50 degrees in my the living room... the case is even colder then the room is inside... there are no wires blocking anything.. the case is quite large.... 10-16C IDLE with no cpu load whatsoever... is not impossible lol... it does got up to 32-40 with full load from prime95... its working fine.. I already ran programs and *** and I have no slow down... I keep getting that error.. .but all the testing I've done confirms heatsink and cpu are working fine.. I load into windows... I already installed new drivers I been surfing the internet.. nothings slow whatsoever... idk why its doing it.... I'll check what Bios says... but pretty sure its wrong I have 3 different temperature modules reading the core temp and they all confirm its 10-14C like I said I have no heat on and I'm in MA its about 40 degrees outside about 50-60 inside my house and the case is all opened right now with all the fans going... I legit don't know why its doing it.. unless its some setting I need to fix in the bios... I did everything so far accept play some video games lol because I'm running the integrated GPU right now until my 6850 comes in in couple days...

what part of "or that the room temp is actually below 14c" didnt you read?

Guess the BIOS might not be expecting so low temperatures? 14c = 50F

They might of programmed a minimum where the alarm sounds...

Yeah I've come to find that the most likely thing is that the mobos internal CPU temp reader is broken somehow.. maybe a static shock effected it or its an error in the original bios... because all the other readers I used tell me the same thing that the temps are very low.. the Fan speeds of the case which are controlled through mobo all tell me the same thing because they are all running very slow because they aren't needed... and through touch you can tell the cpu is working but its not getting remotley hot even full load for an hour I touched the heatpipes and it was warm but not hot so it was working and staying cool.. the Bios some how thinks the cpu is running at 126C IDle and Load cuz I tested it on prime for about an hour it never changed. And the max temp the chip can handle is 70C and its been running perfectly fine I did a test with Dirt 3 completely maxed for about 3 hours straight never dropped frames and never had a shut down. So from my perspective everything is running perfect the BIOS is just retarded... I actually can't access it because it freezes up for some reason... I was thinking about updating it with Asus bios updater program that came with it.. but I almost never update bios because its a massive risk... I don't think I ever once updated Bios on any computer I built or owned.... but there seemed to be lot of Bios updates for this specific product when I went on their site and they were all fixes for stability so I assume they had issues with it.
