Getting extra multimedia keys to work

I have a sony PS/2 keyboard from when I bought my computer, but I can't figure out how to get the "multimedia" keys to work again. The computer came with win ME, so I wiped the disk and installed win 2000. But I can't get the keyboard driver without installing the "sony" version of win ME. Is there a way to do all this w/o a driver for these keys? Thanks to all who respond!

I suggest you contact Sony and explain the situation ... finding drivers or software for a keyboard like this on the 'Net (or the Sony website, which is a joke) without a keyboard model number and/or the system model number of a proprietary computer like this is nearly possible.

If you'd rather not contact Sony, you can use a program like <A HREF="http://www.copernic.com/winkey/" target="_new">Winkey</A> to create your own Windows keyboard shortcuts. But it won't reprogram the multimedia keys on a proprietary device. You'll need some kind of keyboard manager to do that, and some programming skills.

Yeah, I thougt that would be the case. Sony is the worst at almost everything regarding tech support. I'm not going to go huge lengths do make these work. If I really want to I'll just get another keyboard. Thanks for the help though!

winamp has many plugins available that should work, if you use winamp. if you dont, why the hell not?

my computer is so fast, it completes an endless loop in less than 4 seconds!
