Getting files from old hard drive

So recently I started taking apart my fathers old computer.It has a old western digital wd600 60 gb IDE Hard drive.Is their a way to get the memory off of the hard drive in a way like you would transfer memory with a usb?

you copy files not memory. You'll need something with an IDE connection

So I looked online and found a IDE to usb connector.If I plugged this into my laptop could I transfer the files onto it?

Should work yup.You cant copy programs they wont work. You'll have to reinstall them
