Getting fps drops is it due to my GTX 1080 founders edition?

been getting fps drops for a coulple of months now when gaming in overwatch, i have a 240hz monitor and i am getting like 120 fps - 90fps could this be due to my graphics being founders edtition?

Monitor your GPU temperature when the drops occur
Could be thermal throttling doesn't have to be though

GPU temp at 40 - 50 with msi afterburner and still getting fps drops, without afterburner temps go 75-80
