Getting GTX 770 to max all games in 1080p Will my setup work?

MB: Asus P8Z68-V LE
Processor: Intel Core I7 2600k @ 4.3GHz Turbo

I know my CPU is more than enough to support it. I am more worried about the Motherboard or Powersupply. I know 850 WATT is enough as the recommended is 650 watts

requires a PSU with +42 AMP PCI-E connector? I'm not sure the amperage on my PSU but I do know it's 850 WATT. So that +42 AMP connector confused me.

The EVGA spec sheet says 600w with 42a on the +12v rails:

On your psu there will be a data plate that shows the combined amps for +12v. It might be shown as watts, in which case you divide by 12.

What brand/model is it? Any 850w psu that is any good will have upwards of 60a available.
If your unit is a cheap one, beware.

Oh great. the +12V1 rail says at the bottom MAX AMP 24A they all say MAX AMP 24A
I have the HEC-850 TS which I presume doesn't support the GTX 770? So now more than likely, I will need to upgrade that too.

I already know this PSU is shit now. Can you provide me a link with a good 850 WATT PSU?

Find the model of your psu first then it can be determined if you have enough. Chances are you do. that +12v1 rail will be for one of the cords but your graphics card takes 2 cords correct?

The model is HEC 850W 80+ Silver Power Supply (HEC-850TS) and these websites say nothing about the amperage of it. Just say that it's 850 watts.

Also, I don't think that card has 2 PCI-E power connectors according to newegg it just says Power connector 6 pin / 8 pin

Here is what the PSU says:

No idea now if I can run the card with my PSU or if I have to upgrade.

If your psu has the requisite 6 pin and the 8 pin pcie leads, I would be inclined to try it since you already have the psu and it has been working for you.
I don't know of any 850w psu that will advertise less than the 42a needed.

If your new GTX770 shows artifacts or strange behavior, then look at the psu as a possible culprit.
I would expect a under powered psu to simply not work well, as compared to doing any damage.

Yeah. Somebody told me that the PCI-E slot will give out 75 WATT the PCI-E 6 pin will give out 75 WATT and the PCI-E 8 pin will give out 100 WATT = 250 WATT just what I need. Card is being shipped now and it should work fine now that I understand how to do it correctly. I actually have 2 PCI-E connectors on my PSU (for CrossFire) which are probably on different rails so I will try the 6 Pin and 8 pin from the other connector. If it doesn't have enough power because they are on the same rails, I will use a double Molex -> PCI-E power converter connector for the 6 pin. and the regular PCI-E for the 8 pin. And if that doesn't work I will have to get a better PSU but I'm optimistic it'll work.

Not to worry.

Virtually all psu's have only one power generating rail.
The division into 12v1/2/3 etc is an artificial UL safety thing. The power leads are designed to be able to deliver the full power required of each.

Just to let everybody know I got the GTX 780 from EVGA today instead of the GTX 770 because somebody told me the performance is better for the extra 100$

I was able to Successfully install the GTX 780 and it is awesome! The reason why I am posting this is I hope that anybody else finds this helpful if they only have 22 amps on the +12V rail like me. Using the 6 pin & 8 pin PCI-E connectors the card powered just fine.

Also, If you only have 1 PCI-E power connector that's fine. The box with EVGA's GTX 770 / 780 comes with a double molex -> PCI-E 6 pin connector basically just connect 2 molex power connectors to the end and in the front you have a PCI-E connector 6 pin. Then you use your PSU's power connector for the 8 pin. I didn't need these connectors because I have 2 but it's useful parts that it comes with.

The only pain is that this card is HUGE. Literally I was able to fit it inside my case by 1 inch using a Mid-Tower (Half 912) make sure your case is big enough if anybody else wants to install this card.

Anyway, no PSU upgrade needed. Just want to thank everybody for the help!
