So I just got a new 6700k and after installing I notice that I get high default voltage and high idle and under load temps.

I'm idling at 35-45C, and under load it can go as high as 80C. My last setup with the same cooler (Hyper 212 EVO) was keeping my CPU at 24-30 idle and no more than 65C under heavy load. Not sure what's going on.

Specs
MB: Asus Z170-A
CPU: I7-6700k
Cooler: Hyper 212 EVO
GPU: Nvidia GTX 970
RAM: 16GB GSKILL
PSU: Silverstone 500W
Windows 7

I've looked around and noticed other threads about the 6700k taking high voltage even at default settings. I literally have 0 idea what I'm doing when it comes to this stuff. One thing I saw was that maybe I applied too much thermal paste. I put 3 long lines on it then smeared it around gently on the cooler before putting it on the CPU. But would that cause high voltage and high temps?

Here's a pic of it just sitting idle, with the max being me just OPENING a game not even playing yet: https://i.gyazo.com/a53d8ad2c448ca906d99d8c2884b2e56.png

Could really use some help.

I'm not quite sure how to do that, and I don't want to mess anything up :\

Do you know what good numbers are to put into it for just like base stock on an i7-6700k? I can't find any youtube videos that show where to put what numbers for the Z170-A motherboard. It's just all overclocking.

Here's a picture from one of the videos: https://i.gyazo.com/fddcf49b5f02825987151366613cba3a.png

A lot of people I've read suggest adaptive mode. But when I select that it doesn't let me select what core voltage I want to start at. And I'm not sure what to put into the + or - field.
