so im getting huge fps drops and i don't know why. i was thinking my power supply could be causing it. i would be playing league of legends and i cap it at 144 fps and with my build it should constantly be on 144fps fps but il get this huge fps drop down to 70. and itl get really stuttery and i dont know why and im positive thats not normal. im thinking its my power supply but i guess i could be wrong.

apparently the cx600 isnt compatible with haswell

what do you guys think? im actually planning to rma my motherboard. and i talked to intel about my cpu and they said that my cpu is running fine because i passed the intel processor diagnostic tool.

my computer specs are in my signature

EDIT* cpu Temps are normal also below 50c

Solution
You would have to look up the settings for your bios, I don't know which bios you have (motherboard manufacturer). There should be a power management settings area. Something along the lines of "sleep states - c6/c7 - enable/disable". I don't see anything about reports or latency on my bios, it may or may not have it I didn't dig that deep. I just switched it from 'enabled' to 'disabled'.
I doubt its your PSU - more likely background software or HDD limitation (reading from HDD is slow). LoL is by no means of good way of testing a PC - at that fps the gpu or cpu might be going into power saving mode...

definitely not software. i only have 50 process running

Im going to assume you have a 144hz monitor. its dropping apporx half of your refresh rate, which is what happens when vsync is on even if its only able to produce 143fps, it will drop to 70. Turn vsync off, or turn adaptice vsync on. Or try 120hz, then your gpu will only have to keep up 120fps before it drops with vsync.

that cant be the reason why my fps goes from 144 to 70 and really stuttery though.

just talked to intel support they said it could be my power supply thats at fault. according to corsair my psu may not even be compatiable with haswell

they told me to take out my gpu for a week and see if it happens again, but even if i do take out my gpu how can i tell if its my gpu or my psu.

i also recently rma'ed my gpu

im so frustrated and tired.

It's likely not your power supply. The haswell compatibility with psu's refers to the fact that haswell is capable of a c6/c7 extended sleep state and a non compatible power supply will turn off at that low of voltage and/or be unable to recover and power back up from that low of a sleep state. Go into your bios and disable c6/c7 sleep states in your power settings. Beyond that I don't see it being a power supply issue. A non 'compatible' psu has nothing to do with framerates.

If you insist it's your power supply, then replace it and see if that improves it. You seem to think that's the cause of it, but I've yet to see a power supply functioning well enough to power a machine where it's not crashing due to blue screen/hard shutdown errors interact in such a way as to cause game lag like a cpu or gpu due to bad drivers or lack of power. Neither component cpu or gpu sounds like it should be weak so I doubt that's the case. I don't play that particular game and not sure if it's online in which case online servers can change everything and may have to do with the lagging/fps drops and brings internet latency and connection properties into the mix.
