Getting internet on vista 64

i have a normal broadband and i have it pluged inand the light is blinking. also i went to device manager and it shows that it is working fine but i cant set up a network for it because all it wants me to make is a broadband with a password??? so what is going on im new to this

Ok, basically all you should need to do is go into control panel, then to network connections, then manage network connections, and look for your Local Area Network(LAN) connection, make sure that says it's connected, if so that should be all you have to do. As long as LAN network connection shows it's working, you should be good.
