So I'm getting at Msi gtx 950 and it needs a 6 pin connector but my psu doesn't have so I'm wondering if I use a 4 pin molex to 6 pin connector adapter work
Yeah, unfortunately you're much better off upgrading your PSU. Chances are, if it doesn't have the power connection on it, it's either too old or too under powered to run it anyway. You should never use a 4 pin to 6 pin adapter. They sell them everywhere but there are too many horror stories of shorting and fires. Best case it works but you run the risk of shorting your card, worst case it starts a fire and... well I don't need to explain that. Save yourself some horror and drop 60 bucks on a new PSU if money is an issue.

Even a "reputable" adapter is an unnecessary risk to your entire machine. I can't recommend that option to you in good faith. If you could post your system hardware specs I'd be happy to help you find a good deal on a powersupply on Amazon. I could help you find something very budget oriented.
