hey guys i just brought a new smart tv today and on first boot up my desktop showed on the new t.v/smart t.v, but as usual the resolution was slightly off so i do what i usually do which is change it to find the correct one well since i did this i buggerd something right up as now when i boot up in normal mode it gets to the part where the windows logo is loading up the pc then bump NO SIGNAL but works fine on my older 42" tv any advice/help would be greatly appreciated as this new smart tv was specificley for my pc lol and im gutted about it THANKS :)forgot to mention this is with a HDMI cable from my GPU to my TV not from my motherboard which wont work

i have tried that solution back with the 42" but it doesnt change for the other t.v i can boot in safe mode and change the res there on the new t.v but still when it boots up in normal mode fails

i have done this multiple times with all resolution settings and still did nothing for me its very strange usually i can fix these sort of problems myself ,not this time lol, it makes it to the windows logo everytime then bump and i cant figure it out is there anything i can do on bootup that might help

would you be able to give me a breif ide on how to go about that ive only ever had 1 t.v hooked upto my pc never set up multiple screens so im unfamilliar with its location and how to find that area,Also if this helps when i right click in safe mode go to my resolution settings then tap advanced i am meant to see my GPU but it says,,unavailable>unavailable>unavailable then on the next tab along it claims to be VgaSave i dont know what this means ive never seen it before

going through my usual easiest solution first checklist it looks like:

your HDMI cable is fine, if there is any picture at all it is working

your graphics card is fine (if it was working with the previous TV and will at least display a splash screen)

You made no settings changes to the computer at all other than plugging the HDMI cable into a new TV when this issue came up

If all of the above is true it leads me to think that the problem is either output resolution or the TV itself

You mention that it does fine in Safe Mode which is usually a resolution like 640x480 (480p) so the TV definitely doesn't have a problem with 480p resolution. That leads me back to thinking perhaps you don't have the resolution set to what the new TV can handle. is output set to 1920x1080 and the TV 1080p capable? or perhaps 1366x768 and 720p capable? If not that is the most likely issue. But if you are sure the resolution is correct the TV is probably the issue

What is the make/model of the new TV? Many current HDTVs will only accept a signal from a computer over a specific HDMI port or sometimes only via VGA. so you may have to change from HDMI 1 to HDMI 3 to get the signal. Check your user manual or google to see which (if any) of the ports on the new TV will accept a computer signal and if so try that. Or for that matter just try all the ports it doesn't take long. I would also use the input button on your tv/remote every time you try a new port. Go to another input and then back. Sometimes this helps with handshake issues. Some TVs also limit input resolution from computer sources so even though it may be a 1080p tv it may only accept a 720p max signal

are you seeing this in display settings?

that is the tv^^

and yes you are correct all i did was plug in the HDMI after plugging in my aerial of course and tuning the free-view then the resolution was off on the desktop at this point worked just too big for the screen so i changed it as you do and it was at that point when i applied it the pc lagged slightly the background went black and all was left was the resolution choice box since that time it does not make it past the windows loading logo without safe mode and even when i use my other 42" tv that i am using now to change the resolution it does not do anything for some reason it resets itself back to the size to fit the 42"

So looking at the TV specs it is 720P. Is your computer set to 1366x768 or lower resolution? If not the new TV can't show it as it is limited to 720p.

Looking at the user manual page 6 it looks like the only way it will accept a PC signal is through VGA or by using VGA to YPbPr which woud require an adapter and some cables

http://finlux.co.uk/content/ebiz/shop/resources/pdf/32HME242B-T.pdf

Page 25, 26, 27 have some possible resolutions. It looks like the max signal the TV can receive is 1080i not 1080p. So you will likely have to stick with 720p as the computer output will be progressive not interlaced

so it doesn't look like HDMI is an option in this case

ok so how would i have to go about it my GPU only has a HDMI port

You could use an HDMI to VGA adapter like this:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812699004&cm_re=hdmi_to_vga-_-12-699-004-_-Product

you would need a VGA cable if you don't have one

or you could use an HDMI to YPbPr adapter like this:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812270612

and you would also need YpBpR cable and an audio cable depending on your setup. this box costs quite a bit more than the HDMI-VGA dongle and cables are probably more as well. So if price is a consideration I would stick with the HDMI to VGA dongle

I'm not specifically endorsing either of the linked products but I have used an HDMI to VGA dongle to hook up to an old monitor and had no issues with it. I can't recall the brand but they are all pretty much the same. I would shop around a bit and look for the one with the best reviews and return policy just in case. Amazon, Newegg, Monoprice, etc. all have these or similar products.

If you go the HDMI-VGA route you can set your output to 1080p and the TV should accept the signal, however, if you do that the TV will have to scale the 1080p signal into a 720p resolution which is likely to produce significant visual degredation so I would reccomend sticking with 1366x768 output

there are a lot of these dongles out there. See:
