Question Getting "NO SIGNAL" when connecting PC to monitor with HDMI?

I have a POLAROID TV that I plan to use as a monitor for my PC. I connected the two via HDMI cable, but the monitor is showing a NO SIGNAL message rather than my motherboard's BIOS startup screen. I've been using the TV as a monitor for my XBOX for months. What gives?
