Getting no sound

Last night I was using my computer and out of nowhere some random music started playing in the background, no programs open - just random music that lasted around a minute then stopped.
Today I turn on my PC and I have no sound whatsoever, my speakers are not being detected - no volume controls...even my headphones aren't working.
Now I'm not a computer expert but I've never had this issue before, my anti-virus expired last week so that may be an issue.
Any help would really be appreciated.

Firstly, scan your computer and get it protected again! I use AVG and Malwarebytes:

Scan with them both! 😀

Yeah I plan to renew my Anti-virus on wednesday. Downloaded and ran both the programs you suggested, it found only a few problems which have been fixed but still no sound. Dont know if this has anything to do with it but if I try to play a video on youtube, it plays the first 2 seconds and then closes telling me an error has occurred - This has only started happening since the sound went.

First renew your antivirus and run may be this problem will fix it out...
