I recently got a 1440p 144Hz monitor (AG271QX). I have a GTX 760 right now (will upgrade soon). I'm using the DP cable that came with the monitor. I'm only getting an option to select 120Hz refresh rate. No 144Hz anywhere - Nvidia control panel, or monitor display properties.

I even tried adding a custom resolution on the Nvidia control panel, but it doesn't save it and can't use 144Hz due to that. I did hear that 120Hz could be the native refresh rate and 144Hz is "overclocked". I couldn't find any option to overclock to 144Hz on the monitor menu system.

Any thoughts how I can get it working at 144Hz?

Kepler cards have a maximum of 540 Mpx/s over DisplayPort, which means only up to 120 Hz at 1440p.

Thanks for that. I'm planning to upgrade soon to an RTX 2060. Do you think that'll solve the problem? Also, I'm assuming I can use the Adaptive Sync on it (G-Sync Compatible).

Edit: If I reduce the resolution to maybe 1080p. that should give me an option for 144Hz. That's not working either. No matter the resolution, I get only 120Hz.

Yes, it will work at 144 Hz once you upgrade the graphics card.

Unlike most display controllers, the NVIDIA G-Sync module does not have the capability to scale images from the DisplayPort input, so display-side scaling is not supported. That means all scaling is handled by the GPU, which means no matter what resolution you select, it will be upscaled to 2560×1440 by the GPU prior to transmission, so the display will always be receiving a 2560×1440 signal and you will be limited to the refresh rate options available at that resolution. NVIDIA thanks you for your purchases. 😉👍

EDIT: It looks like that isn't a G-Sync module monitor after all, I had it mixed up with another model. Either way, it's because GPU scaling is being used.

That's new info. Thanks.

On the other hand, I guess I'll have to wait until I get my upgrade and test it out again! I just hope G-Sync compatibility works well!
