Getting rid of Old Computers and Monitors

Over a 12 year period I have upgraded to a newer computer 5 or 6 times. Each time I will give my current computer to my wife. Currently I have 5 or 6 CPUs Cluttering my spare room closet. I know these can NOT go to the land fill and am sure there are some good parts in them. I am not a computer nerd that can take parts out and change them as some people have suggested. I tried to donate them to a thrift store and the said it was too much trouble. Also have 3 old big tube monitors. Any suggestions on how to get rid of them?

Ask your city utility for information on where to recycle electronics. The city web page may have the info you need. BestBuy stores will take TVs for recycling.

Not sure about your location, but in IL ,any Goodwill can take them, and are recognized as facilities that can be used for recycling of electronic equipment.

Yeah Goodwill usually takes e-waste regardless of working condition. If you have one near you that would be a good place to start. eBay would also be another place to sell working electronics.

My city recycles them(electronics), but I have to take them to one of their drop off sites, and they open every other Saturday. Your city or county may have something similar.

City here also recycles, ask your local council. Bestbuy also takes E-trash for free. Brought my old 50" plasma there when it broke, no you didn't have to buy it there or buy the new telly there.
