Btw i get low fps at almost all high graphic games, specs:
Intel Core2Duo e7500 2.93Ghz
Radeon 5670HD 512mb
2g ram 800Mhz
500w Psu

i get like 20 - 30 fps on med graphics and 1024 x 768 res...
and i sometimes get a major fps drop to like 3 fps one in a while...

wtf?
(the card is 3 days old, and the pc is 4 months old)
also i get like 20 fps on Gta IV on lowest graphics and lowest res, wats up with that?

Crysis is resource intensive. 2GB of ram (and im assuming you have win 7 or vista) is nothing. upgrade your ram.

Because you set "medium" graphics. He says in his post he's between medium and low. Lower a lot of the more intensive ones like texture and crap and you'll see a boost in your performance as well.

technically yeah if you buy more ram you should notice a bit more. but if you want, download a cpu/ram meter and play your game in window mode and pay attention to how much ram your computer is using during gameplay. here's one you can try.

this shows ram usage. launch either gta or crysis and once it loads minimize (or if you can run in window mode do that) and just check how much ram its using.

It shows that GTA4 wants to use alot of RAM. Minimizing the game may not give you an accurate representation of the RAM usage. Don't forget, the OS needs RAM too so it's not going to let an application have RAM it wants to use. Also, GTA 4 is poorly coded for the PC and requires alot more resources than it should.

As for Crysis the problem is you're using a 5670. If you're using XP then you can get away with 2Gb, but not in Vista or Win 7. It will also help to run the game in DX 9 mode rather than DX10 as well as downloading the latest patch.

gta4 also takes advantage of more cores. but really even people with high end systems have trouble running that game its just bad coding. PC is 4 months old? the specs resemble a 2 year old pc... core2 duos are not what you want if buying a new pc. you could have got an athlonx4 or something.

well forget crysis, but gtaiv should run ok, it runs ok on my system which is similar spec to yours. not at max detail obviously. maybe play around with ati control panel settings set to performance.

You have a slow dual core cpu, a very low end graphics card, and 2gb of ram and yet you wonder why you get low fps on two of the most hardware intensive games out there....................Seriously?

maybe you're expecting too much from your PC. i'm not saying your system is bad but the game you mention is crysis and GTA 4

Get anothe 2 gb and overclock your cpu a little see if that helps. A 5670 should be ok for medium at that low of a resolution.

before this i have system that close to your config but i have weaker card:

E7500 at stock clock
9600GSO (48 sp version)
2GB RAM
Win 7 64 bit ultimate
res: 1024 x 768

with all setting set to high i was able to get 25-30 fps at best. in average i get mid 20s. but in very intensive fire fight (especially when all the aliens break lose) my FPS will drop below 20. with your card you should be able to get better frames rates than mine but maybe not so much.

i was playing crysis on all high settings smoothly using a E4500 @2.2ghz, 3gb ram and a slightly overclocked HD5570 on windows xp at 1280x1024. i can also play bad company 2 at all high settings smoothly. i didnt use a fps counter but im sure it was around 30fps in crysis and bc2 was smoother than crysis. im thinking most people here are overestimating what you need to run crysis/gta 4.

so yeh i do think something is wrong with your situation as you have a better cpu, better gpu and are using a lower resolution.

renz you played crysis on 2gb ram with 64 bit windows 7, thats probably why your fps was similar to mine (at a lower resolution with a better cpu).

i think i should be able to get better performance in crysis if i play the game in dx9 even in win 7. but i don't know how to make it run with dx9 mode :p

^agreed gta IV is poorly coded, not really worth playing, even on my x4 955 @ 4.0 ghz, and hd 6870 (1040 core 1240mem) there are some unfavorable fps slowdowns even with less draw distance, etc... The graphics are crap anyways compared to a newer games such as Just Cause 2... I enjoyed playing the games for a few hours some years back on xbox360 but the pc version is not worth it imo...

Have a look at the tweak guide for crysis
http://www.tweakguides.com/Crysis_1.html
I am running it on dx9 with a PentiumD 935 + HD4650 at 1280x800 all medium, except shadows (low) and it averages 30-40fps (25 min)

I'm pretty sure you just open the shortcut properties and in the target, after the "C:\........" stuff type -dx9

Although if you have it through Steam, you go into your library and go to the properites and there's one for launch options. There's a text box and you just have to type -dx9
