I have a GeForce2 GTS 32Mb DDR(AsusV7700 pure) in my system.
Asus A7V
AMD 1Ghz Tbird
Sound Blaster Live
384Mb RAM (PC133)
Windows 2000 Professional
And playing Unreal Tournament it performs poorly compaired to my Voodoo3 3000. I have the latest drivers for each, the latest version of the game (436). When I pulled out my GF2 and put my V3 3000 back in my framerates doubled (and changed the video card in the game settings). I have no idea why this would be except UT was written with the Voodoo in mind. Any ideas? I'd really like to get that kind of performance out of my GF2...

Thanks for any help

Hehe, hate to agree a third time... but yes, Unreal was originally written for Glide, 3dfx's proprietary API. Support for DirectX (which is what your GeForce card has to run it in) was added later, but this is never very effective. All engines that do this will run better on a Voodoo in Glide mode.

As a side note, starting with Unreal 2 the engine will finally lose all of its Glide roots. It has been written from the ground up to be a DirectX game.

Cheers,
