what card would you suggest: gf4mx440se or gf3ti200 - both are 64mb ddr. the vga chart shows that the gf3 is ahead in everything except the opengl - which is important as i want to use it for games. also, my experience with my gf2mx is that it performs on par with a tnt2. could anyone help me?

if you are looking at upgrade option I would say both are crappy. Now for the upgrading of graphic board you should look at GeForce4 Ti4200 or Radeon 9100 Pro at the lowest. Anyhow, for your question. A decent GeForce3 Ti200 is better than GeForce4 MX440SE. Even it lose out in OpenGL but overally it'll gives you better performance. And my girlfriend's GeForce4 MX420 is only a little bit faster than my old GeForce2 MX400 if you want to know.

know they aren't that good - don't have no money. R9100 and gf4ti4200 are both almost 2x as expensive - our import tax on IT was only removed in feb,so prices still haven't dropped

Then you should wait if your old graphic card is still in good condition. If you get GeForce3 Ti400 or GeForce4 MX440SE now you'll only end up in regret. Save this hard earn cash and wait for 2-3 weeks depends on your regional retailer stocks. The price should come down.
