Hello All,

I notice that my 2nd hand Sapphire AMD Radeon HD 7970 3GB is starting to act up, so I was looking into an upgrade/replacement.

My system specs are:
i5-4670K 3.40GHz
16 GB memory
I believe my PSU is 650W and had pin-connectors just big enough for this card.

I searched around and checked comparisons between the Geforce 1050s and the RX 560, but they don't seem to be as good.

My budget is around €250, preferably cheaper of course 😛
Mind you that in Europe, hardware is quite more expensive vs in the US, for all you American users here.

I mostly play games like D3, Assassin's creed, Fallout 3, XCOM 2 and others like that.
I don't have a 4k monitor, nor do I plan on buying one in the near future.
Right now I have been playing at 1920 x 1080.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide me.

Greetings,
Bart/BobMaster

Right now is a bad time to be buying a new card. The current mining craze means there is a shortage of cards, and the ones that are available are overpriced.

A good replacement would be the GTX 1060 6GB (don't get the 3GB), there really isn't anything below this that would suit, anything less would be a down grade from what you've got. However, you may not be able to find a 1060 at your budget, so you either should wait for prices to drop or be prepared to spend a little more.

Thanks Pete, that is quite an informative answer, I just hope my gfx card will last long enough for prices to drop lol
Currently the cheapest 1060 6GB is €399
