Question GFX Card/Monitor combination ?

I have a c. 5-year-old system based on an i7 with 16GB RAM and a Geforce GTX970. I am seriously considering buying an AOC CU34G2X monitor and I'd appreciate any comments.

The specs say that the 970 can do 144hz but can someone who has one confirm this?

I've read that there can be some "ghosting" with this monitor but that it isn't that evident and games still look okay. Again, can anyone who has a VA-panel monitor comment please.

BTW, I mainly play Forza Horizon 4; soon to be 5

that graphics card is going to have serious issue getting any good frame rates with this 3440x1440p display.
with even decent settings you will probably be hitting ~40-50fps at max with average AAA games.
least i would recommend for an ultra-wide 1440p 144Hz display would be an RTX 2080.

regarding if the GTX 970 can render 3440x1440 @ 144Hz just check the Nvidia product spec pages.
they will give a verified max resolution / refresh rate.

Not being serious, hard-core gamer I'm okay with 50fps, to be fair. Not getting much above that now, really.

And I can't find full specs on the card anywhere now. Even Nvidia's own website doesn't have them.

Might I be better with something like this? this

To be fair, I'm not too bothered if it won't work @ 144Hx for now. I just need a new, UWS monitor and hope to be getting new GFX card in the next year or two and wouldn't need to change screens again if I got this. Might just have to buy one and try it!

I got one of these and it works just fine; though with the frame-rate you mentioned. But I'm okay with that for now; until the price of new gfx cards comes back down!
