Gfx cards for girlfriends system

will be building a new system for her when AMD releases their next gen of CPU's i currently have a 9800GTX+ in my system but with the release of battlefield 3 and a few other games i will prolly want to be able to run a newer version of directX

my motherboard is an ATI motherboard however so SLI isnt really an option for me but it will be for her, i havent been keeping up with the newer video cards so im not even sure whats good and whats trash..especially ATI as i havent used one since the single core CPU days..

so i guess my first question is what would be a good card to pair this 9800GTX+ with for her system she plays mostly single player RPG games and sometimes MMO's

my second question is what would be a good ATI for my system i will be using it mostly for elder scrolls series and shooters like battlefield 3..as long as it can max those games when they come out it is good enough as i can always buy a second one later..i just dont want to spend 400 bucks on a replacement for the 9800 + another 200 for her main card

i also dont run at an extreme res..1366x768

The only cards that you could pair that 9800GTX+ with is another 9800GTX with the same amount of memory or possibly a GTS250 with the same amount of memory.

oh i worded that kind of weird didnt i. but yeah i meant would a gts250 be worth it so i can pair them or should i just go with a newer card for her because a lot of the new rpg games are pretty demanding

No just buy two newer cards not those older ones. Like maybe a 6770 or something its like $100.

Whilst I agree that the OP should not bother with buying older cards the same goes for the 6770 as being a card not to buy as it's just a rebadged 5770.

well..what abotu a gtx 460? and using the 9800GTX as a physX card..not sure if i can do that because the 98 is 512 ram and the gtx460 is 1gig if i remember right

You could do that, the 98 having only 512MB shouldn't be a problem that prevents it.

thanks to everyone for their help. hopefully after some more reading and playing around with stuff i will catch up yet again on hardware knowledge
