Hey guys,
I just have a quick question, my friend made a bad purchase in buying a laptop with a weak graphics card (HP Pavilion dv4-1435dx Entertainment Notebook PC) and I was wondering if it can be upgraded with a graphics card. I've done a bit of research but I haven't found anything of this sort, if yes, it would be nice if the model of the graphics be stated and such, and if no, thanks for helping anyways.

Solution
He's pretty much stuck with it. Laptops with integrated graphics solutions usually never offer an upgrade option via PCI-e as desktops do.

The laptop you purchased has an an integrated graphics chipset which is part of the motherboard. Neither of the two motherboards have anything except the Intel GM45 graphics. You are out of luck. The newer versions can be ordered with a NVIDIA 105M chip. The motherboads costs about four to five hundred dollars. You are better off selling the laptop and getting something else. Most of the mobile graphics are pretty weak to begin with. See the November Chard: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/best-graphics-card,2464-8.html
