Okay so I have a problem with hard drives staying on my Windows 7 system even after unplugging the hard drives. I currently have 3 hard drives showing up that are NOT plugged in. They are on 2x - 144gb 1x 99mb. They are originally USB's but they show up as local disks (F), (H) and (Z). Does anyone know how to get rid of them?

Thanks, that was quite the simple solution for 2 out of the 3 disks. However the third one (Z) reads "Windows cannot delete the active system partition on this disk" when I try to "Delete Volume" in disk management.

I get the options:

Open
Explore...
Change drive letter and paths...
Format...
Shrink volume...
Add mirror...
Delete volume... (Error message)
