Ghost image of a crack in LCD

Hello, I have a strange issue (or it seems strange to me). I have a pretty old Samsung 46 inch LCD TV (LN46B650 T1F) , it was in storage for many years and had been fumagated or something messed up, and shortly after taking it out I noticed the large vertical bars show up (pretty visible in the picture), but they haven't changed much over the last 2 years of watching it. Just today I noticed a ghost image of a crack (3 kind of crooked lines coming to a center point). The screen still works in the affected areas, color still works, but it's just kind of there when the screen is displaying some image types. It there is excessive movement going on it is not visible, but if it is a still shot with the right shade/color it becomes pretty apparent. It is located in the upper right quadrant)

Does anyone know what this is/ how it may have happened/how to fix it?

The "fix" for a 10 year old, 46", partially broken TV is a new replacement TV.

If the image is unacceptable, replace the whole thing.

Fair enough, I was really more mystified by the issue than I am interested in fixing it. Regardless, your point is valid.

What might have happened?
Bumped while it was in storage, resulting in a tiny crack.
Said crack gets worse over time, through many heat-cool cycles.
