I’m wondering what the difference in performance would be between an Intel 2.26 ghz core duo and an Intel 2.8 ghz core duo processor.
If we work on the assumption both CPUs are of the same generation, no other hardware bottlenecks, and we assume 100% core loading, then the expected performance difference would be just over 21%.
If the CPUs are from different generations, then changes to IPC will affect the results. If core loading is less then 100%, then the performance difference will be less then expected. If other hardware is a bottleneck, then the performance difference will be less then expected.
