Hi I currently have TDS Gigabit fiber service. They provide an actiontec T2200H, but I mainly use an ASUS AC-RT5300. I have noticed that whether I use the actiontec or the ASUS, I have lower speed tests with IPTV connected. Although sometimes I have even had issues with speed test when I have rebooted the modem with the IPTV not even connected. The issue is almost like a weird lag or stutter during the download portion of the test. The upload portion always is smooth. The really odd thing is that if I reboot either router and then directly go to speed test.net and perform the test everything is great and no lag or stutter. 30 minutes later I have that issue on the download. The issue is really severe with IPTV connected to an ethernet port. But like I said, the issue happens without it as well. Does anybody have any idea what could be going on as my ISP is no help. I have 2 smart switches on the network with things like a printer, NVIDIA shield, XBOX One, and a few computers.

Thanks in advance guys as I am really considering just going back to cable because I would rather have lower speeds that are consistent and not having weird random issues with downtime.

On the actiontec I dont see a spot to set MTU, but on the asus I have 1500 by default. I tried 1492 and couldnt get internet connection to the router. I didnt change any settings in the pc.
My ISP said to just use dhcp, but was also able to connect find if I used PPPoE on the asus.

Suggest I try lower MTU settings? And if this works do I need to lower mtu in each pc to be at leas then what i aet router or no?

Update, I just opened command prompt and ran ping -f -l 1472 www.dslreports.com and I got no packet loss, so I am thinking that 1500 is correct MTU.

I had same issue on my RT-AC68U, resolved it by turning off everything in LAN->IPTV.

If you need IPTV, try disabling NAT Acceleration and turn on QOS, I'm not a specialist in the area, but I suspect it might be causing router to simply forward related packets. End result: protocol doesn't work correctly, instead of 'cherry picking' channels router/ISP equipment reserves(spams?) IPTV bandwidth
