Gigabit Lan PCI Adapter Problems?

First, i have a Asus P8H67 Mobo, Trying Gigabit Lan PCI Adapter Rc 400. I tried plugging in the NIC and nothing. Pc wont boot. Will spin up and light up for just a split second and then it will stop. if i leave it for a moment it will try again. my onboard NIC died so i am trying a new path rather than new mobo of new onboard,I'm not so good with a iron.

Have you tried another PCI slot? Does the computer boot up fine without the lan card in there?

opps New to tom's. Yes it boots up fine without and yes Have tried other slot. \.And is there a Way to unsolve you?

I was able to un-select it myself. In any case, it might be that the adapter is defective. Did the PC not boot up while the lan adapter installed in the other slot as well?

It seems kind of strange the computer wouldn't boot up with just another PCI slot being used up. even if there aren't any drivers installed that wouldn't make a difference.

Same out come when swapped. Thats why i am lost. it tries to boot but won't.

I mean you could try to narrow it down even further, do you have another pc you could try the card in or perhaps another pci device you could connect to see if its the PCI slots?

yes and yes. i tried my buddies network card .worked and my network card worked on his. also when i place it in pci slot and plug in cable it lights up. don't know if that will help.
