Which is better for gaming to ensure no lag and high game download speeds?

Then which is better for workloads and heavy file transfers and download/uploads?

Define "normal ethernet"? The vast majority of ethernet connections are either "fast ethernet" (100 Mbps) or gigabit ethernet. Gigabit ethernet offers 10x the speed for LAN connections, although for internet traffic you'll probably be limited by the speed from your ISP regardless of ethernet speed (unless you're paying for >100 Mbps). Given how commonly and cheaply you can find consumer networking devices that support gigabit ethernet these days, I don't see any reason not to go for it.

Any computer made in the last 5 years pretty much is guaranteed to have 1 Gigabit connection. That is the new "normal" . Older computer had 100Mbps which is around 1.1MB/s. Your cable internet is 10x faster than that.

Either way for gaming it doesn't matter. Considering 64player BF1 matches only use 100Kbps down.
