Hi guys, I'm having trouble with my ethernet speed.

I'm using 3600+B450 tomahawk max mobo with CAT7 LAN cable plugged in. I'm using Win10 1909 18363.815

All the while it has been 1Gbps until few days ago it keeps disconnecting and reconnecting by its own. And when reconnects it shows 100mbps.

Cable should be working fine as i plugged into my laptop and it shows 1gbps. Could it still be my cable issue?

Things I've done:

Bought new router (LINKSYS EA8100) Only 1 LAN port is used by this desktop.

Changed duplex to 1gbps

Updated bios

Reinstalled network adapter to newest update

Solution
If its not the cable then it is a bad port in your machine.....not something you can really fix. Lucky it is extremely rare so it almost always is the cable and not the port.

That is the problem with a cable that is not certified to meet standards. It will work on some equipment and not others. Those flat cables are extremely fragile. The ends tend to come lose internally much easier than normal lan cables.

Thanks for the reply.

I'm not sure whether it is counted as in-wall wiring... It's plugged from the router all the way to my desktop, bending at 2 corners till it reaches my room (wire is not taut). Yes it is a flat cable.

If i am receiving 1gbps plugged into my laptop in the same room, could it still be the cable fault?

OK, single cable. It is probably the "flat" part that is the problem. Those cables have very small diameter (wire gauge) wires. They don't meet spec, no matter what the seller claims. I don't recommend them, they are nothing but problems. I have never had a problem with the monoprice I linked.

If i am receiving 1gbps plugged into another computer, which is my laptop in the same room, could it still be the cable fault?
