Hi All, this will be my first attempt at overclocking and I'm somewhat confused at the best way to do it. I have E6750 2.66ghz which I want to overclock to 3ghz. Having read various articles on diff forums and Toms overclocking guide for newbies which I found a bit daunting.. this is what I think I need to do. Memory is Corsair XMS2 2 x 1Gb DDR800 4-4-4-12 2.1v. Enter Bios and set PCIe bus speed to 100. Change the a1 to manual and change the FSB from 333 to 375. set memory divider to 1:1 and under memory multiplier set to 2. Disable E.I.ST (intel speed step) and thermal monitor 2. Run CPU Z to see if overclock has taken effect. Then stress test and monitor temp for 12 hrs. Does this sound right? I will also add better CPU cooling, Arctic Freezer 7 Pro. Now just to confuse me completely when i look at the MB Manual one of it's features is C.I.A.2 (CPU intelligence accelerator) which is designed to automatically adjust to maximize system performance. There are 5 preset options - Cruise 5 - 7% increase, Sports 7 - 9% , Racing 9 - 11% , Turbo 15 - 17% , Full Throttle 17 - 19%. Also bundled with the MB software is an app called easytune 5 which allows you to overclock through windows but i understand through Bios is the best and safest? Any guidance as to what I should do is appreciated, especially from forum members who have overclocked with this board.

Yup. Sounds right.

As for CPU cooling don't get that Freezer Pro. It's old and not enough. Get a Core Contact or S1283.

Set CIA2 to Disable. DO NOT use EasyTune.

Your settings should be same/similer.
