Hey guys. I have been wanting to buy a All-in-One Water Cooled card. And the Gigabyte 1080 Xtreme WaterForce is perfect. It's an overkill for 60 fps 1440p. But I am future proofing. (Yes, 1080 is still a good card for me. I'm in India so even when Volta comes out. It will be balls expensive)

I am getting one on eBay USA .. 7 months used. Seemingly Good condition. For $515 (+$120 shipping to India)

My question. Should I buy now or wait? I might not get this very card later. There'll be plenty of 1080's on eBay when Volta comes. But I don't know how of many these. And how many would be lightly used.

Advice?

If you really want this particular card then go for it. But 1080 for 60 FPS 1440p isn’t as overkill as you might think. I have a 1080ti and maxing out some games is still a challenge. You’re right that you might not find this water cooled card again but once the 1180 comes out you might find you’re able to get a 1080 ti at this price point once the market resettles.

When the market resettles. That would be around... Oct-Nov. If not later. No?

Resettles is a relative term right now with mining and ram prices and everything else considered. I just would not buy a 1080 or 1080ti at the moment when new cards are about to come out driving all pascal cards down in price. But I also just noticed you are in India so I am not familiar with the prices and shipping costs in your region.

To give you a relative idea of cost in India. A...

Gigabyte AORUS GeForce GTX 1080 Ti 11G 11GB Graphic Card (GV-N108TAORUS-11GD) is for $1199 in India. That's $200 more than newegg USA.
Until last 2 months it was $1350.
So when Volta hits the INDIAN shelves. It would be around $250 costlier here...or more.
1080 would be for ...$600ish. Which would.. around $100 less than what I am paying now.

But this card...WaterForce. I don't know if I could find it again.

I am never going for a 1080 Ti. I am not that heavy a gamer.
