gigabyte 797x gaming 7 bios help

im having probles selecting the dvd player as a bootable device in the bios when starting up my pc the hdd does show but the dvd player does not it is an lg. sata and power cables are connected and power is being recived by the device, same with hdd. problem bios does not allow me to switch to dvd to install windows 8.1. in motherboard is gigabyte 797x gaming 7.

You probably have the optical drive connected to the Marvell 88SE9172 chip: 2 x SATA 6Gb/s connectors (GSATA3 6~7) instead of the Intel SATA port.
