Gigabyte 980 ti G1 Gaming SLI in Micro ATX?

Hello,

So I currently have a Micro ATX board and a reference gtx 780. I am planning on switching to a difference board (this one) that is also Micro ATX. I also wish to run the Gigabyte 980 ti G1 Gaming card in SLI. Being such a thick card though, I am unsure if it will block the other PCI slot. I tried looking for the specific sizes on Gigabytes website and did find them but am not sure if it will fit.

My current card is listed as a dual slot card. The 980 ti isn't specified as a dual slot but it's thickness is 42mm.

I plan on buying the 980 ti first so if it won't fit in SLI with this new motherboard I would have to switch to another card. I am trying to keep a white/black/neutral color scheme in my case so this card goes perfectly with the RGB led.

I won't do it. 980ti is fairly power hungry and the top card not going to get much airflow. 980ti will be bottlenecked by i7 6700k as well. If plan on sliing, I would go with 5820k and full x99 atx motherboard to avoid thermal throttling.

Heat is almost always an issue with SLI though, but it doesn't have to be a deal breaker.

Yeah I was gonna say I don't think a 6700k will bottleneck a 980ti....Maybe two 980ti s but not one..
And I have looked into the issue of heat. You'd have to have vessel to watch this video: https://www.vessel.com/videos/V5QeVOIBy but its linus tech tips talking about the issue of having multiple cards in sli in a small case. Having two of these right up against each other will definitely result in a choke back in clock speed. (about 110 MHz according to this video). Even after the choked back clock speed though, these two would still get higher clocks then two thinner cards that may not throttle as much. This is why it is worth it to me. I just wanted to check that they will fit ha. Thanks!

He's talking about the PCIe lanes and not the actual CPU performance being the bottleneck... but even still it will never bottleneck any 2 way GPU config.
